I haven’t done a blog post in a while because let’s be honest, attention spans are seriously limited these days but I wanted to share some of my skincare thoughts as it’s one of the questions I get asked most frequently and a beautiful picture on IG just wouldn’t cut it.
After all, when you’re talking about your skin (especially on your face), you don’t want to risk anything! Am I right? It can’t be about just pretty packaging (thought it doesn’t hurt).
Now I know there’s tons of hype around acids and chemical peels and all sorts of things that sound super scary to me, but I’ve always been more of a believer in taking care of your skin over the long term. I don’t think it’s healthy for your skin to see results immediately because ultimately it means you’re using something quite harsh in order to be able to achieve that change. In most cases, you just remove a layer to see something young & fresh underneath only to have it back to it’s old ways in a few days. This btw is very Asian of me as it’s ultimately the same debate between Asian & western medicine – the former being slow to take effect but less harsh on the body and the latter giving you immediate results. Think paracetamol / tylenol.
But this isn’t about that, it’s about the products from La Prairie (and it’s not ALL of them) that really work for me, enough to have been my pre-wedding lead up skincare routine. And that’s saying a lot!
So if you’re going to splurge on these goodies, here are the few I would seriously recommend.
One of the areas I find most difficult for me is the under-eye. The skin is super thin here and sensitive and dark circles are seriously a real thing. This eye cream for me has the perfect texture and thickness to give a real boost of hydration while having almost no odor (true for most La Prairie products), which is perfect for sensitive areas. I’ve tried so many eye creams in the past and nothing has ever given me the same smooth luxe results. If you pass by a counter, just test this out on your hand and you’ll see what I mean by the perfect texture.
Cellular Swiss UV Protection Veil SPF 50
This is probably an unexpected pick but is genuinely one of my favourite products (and helpful that it’s one of the most affordable). SPF is So So important and on my face I feel like 50 is better than 30 is better than 15. But the real reason I adore this product is because it sits as a thin layer when applied rather than a white trail and again has an almost odorless rather than strong coconut scent like most SPFs. It’s super easy to use and never leaves my face feeling clogged and heavy.
Skin Caviar Luxe Cream Premier
There are so many creams out there & also several just within the La Prairie brand so it can be difficult to decipher what works best for you. This is probably their most iconic, but also most ideal for my age group. So if you’re in your late twenties – thirties, this is ideal. You don’t necessarily need the intensive, super rich, super heavy duty anti-aging lines/brands that exist out there as your skin is regenerating a lot of it’s youth and collagen all by itself! Save those for when you’re forty 🙂 trust me.
I hope this was helpful & as always, please feel free to ask me anything!
