De Beers, what you didn’t know

When you think diamonds, you think De Beers right? I’ve always thought of De Beers as the original home of diamonds. With this status, I’ve also always thought of the brand as being extremely elusive and unattainable. In other words, unaffordable. So in my wedding prep research for wedding jewellery for the big day, I was pleasantly surprised to find that this in fact, is not the case. De Beers, while premium, does in fact also carry very affordable pieces, whether it’s for an engagement ring, wedding band, wedding jewellery, or just everyday diamonds.

There are several really interesting offerings that I thought I’d share in case you’re in the market for something sparkly 🙂

For You, Forever is a bespoke service, offering you, your man, or the two of you to have your diamond engagement ring individually crafted! Based on your budget and requirements, De Beers will help you select the perfect diamond and setting in a private room in store with the help of diamond ambassadors not to mention original designs and drawings behind the inspiration (how cool would it be to have that framed!?). This is a perfect option for those who don’t want something ‘off the shelf’ but want to ensure the highest of quality & a lifetime of guarantee.

Once you have your engagement ring, of course the next step is to find the perfect wedding jewellery! (Never enough diamonds, as I like to say :)) My wedding will be in a historic catholic church in Italy, which to me, means classic. I’m going for an elegant but chic style in terms of dress, shoes and decor. So of course, the jewellery I choose will have to match. Personally, I love dainty jewellery, nothing too loud, but still top-tier quality. With it’s long legacy, De Beers always has first pick when it comes to selecting diamonds from the market, which means, they will always have the best. For me, quality is more important than quantity so naturally De Beers came to mind.

Though I’m still finalising several dresses/looks for the wedding weekend, I know I’m going to select pieces that are elegant but simple. But after all, it is my wedding weekend so I’ll also want to stand out. I love silk & satin, so I wanted to find jewellery to elevate these looks and dainty diamond pieces are perfect for achieving this. Particularly, the Enchanted Lotus collection really spoke to me. The design is somewhat Asian in aesthetic and adds a layer of detailed luxury with it’s perfect craftsmanship. Now I just need to convince my fiancé I should have this ring as my wedding band 🙂 At £5550 I think it’s sort of a bargain!

For the rehearsal dinner, I want to emphasize a backless top/dress with a necklace worn backwards, something I’ve always thought was extremely sexy & seductive but classy at the same time. Again, the I fell in love with the lotus design. For the big day, I wanted dainty drop earrings, and a unique stud to go in my second piercing.

But even if you’re not interested in an engagement or wedding at all, there are so many everyday pieces that are now on my list for future (hopefully) gifts. Particularly, the three solitaire aura bracelets, each at just a little over £2000. My favorite is the Pear cut, but I sort of also need the Round & Princess ones, to keep the other company 🙂

So head over to De Beers, whether in store or online just to have a browse. I’m sure you’ll be as pleasantly surprised as I was.

P.S. Did you know? De Beers was the founder of the first and (I think probably only relevant) diamond grading system, the 4 C’s! Pretty cool 🙂
