With the 3-month countdown to the big day, I figured it was finally time to start blogging a bit about the wedding. But once I start, I probably won’t stop, so watch out for tons of wedding content coming your way! It’s actually an area where I wished I had more information from past brides or other bride-to-be’s rather than solely relying on wedding companies. There are simply SO many factors involved in a wedding and with or without a planner, it’s such a huge task.
For now, I wanted to share something timely for UK brides. This past week I headed to Bicester Village (which by the way is basically shopping heaven located 45 min away by train from Marylebone Station and an infinitely more enjoyable experience than shopping on Regent’s Street / being trampled by tourists. Oh, and did I mention everything is at a huge bargain! Case in point: I got myself some gorg Valentino leather pumps at just £350!
Anyways, on the wedding related point. From April 15-May 14, Brides Do Good has opened a pop up in Bicester Village! If you’ve never heard of this charity-based start-up, you need to read on!
Brides Do Good is a social enterprise that takes pre-loved & sample designer dresses including Monique Lhuillier, Vera Wang, Elie Saab and many more, and sells them to new loving owners at a fraction of the price, while donating either 1/3 or 1/2 (depending on whether a dress is donated or sold to the company by a bride) of the sale to help end child brides by 2030. One girl under the age of 18 is forced into marriage every two seconds. So in the time it takes you to read this sentence, another has occurred. It’s simply awful to think of.
I love this enterprise for so many reasons, only one of which being the charity aspect. In all honesty, if you’ve been a bride, you’ve most likely kept your wedding dress in the very back corner of your closet, or worse in a box, since that big day. If you’re a bride-to-be, you’re most likely perusing obscenely expensive designer dresses thinking, am I seriously going to spend this much?? So why not purchase a sample or a pre-loved dress that may be exactly what you’re looking for? All dresses are in perfect condition and of course you still have the ability to tailor to fit your body perfectly. The previous bride will even send the new bride a private note 🙂
If you’ve read this and are interested in selling or donating your dress, head on over to the Brides Do Good website for more information. Depending on where you’re located, the company can even pickup the dress and help to dry clean it professionally.
If you’ve read this and want to scope out your future wedding gown, head over to Bicester ASAP!
