Before influencers were a “thing” I had a blog, but I didn’t really know what a blogger was nor did I know how to make it a profession. It was merely a nice outlet for me to put my thoughts & share my style. Almost like an adult diary that I’m pretty sure no one read, other than my best friend (not even my mom I think).
Fast forward four years, I attended my first London Fashion Week a few days ago and HOLY SH*T was it a whirlwind, to say the least. But what exactly do bloggers do at fashion week? So many of you have asked so I thought it would be nice to share what my schedule looked like in the spirit of being completely real & transparent. Disclaimer: This is definitely not what every blogger does or perhaps not even anyone but myself, but I thought it could be entertaining for you all to read.
My typical day during Fashion Week:
Night before: Set out the chosen OOTD (all of which have been pre-determined a week in advance)
7am: Alarm…Snooze…
7:30am: Finally roll out of bed
8am: Shower & try to look somewhat presentable
8:30am: Head out to get hair & makeup done (this takes way longer than one would think or hope)
9:30am: Head to first show
10:00am: Show delayed…stand in a line outside the venue with a million other people who look like they don’t belong in London but are secretly all hoping to get snapped by a famous streestyle/magazine photographer
10:30am: Show starts
10:50am: Show ends
10:50am – 11:30am: Stuck in traffic in Uber going cross town to next show
11:30am: Show delayed again…
12pm: Show starts
12:15pm: Show ends
12:15-12:45pm: Stuck in traffic in Uber heading to meet photographer
12:45-1:15pm: Get some quick snaps of 1 or 2 outfits, changing in random bathrooms at restaurants/bars along the way
1:15pm: Starving, but no time for lunch
1:30pm: Next show, thank god for prosecco & snacks @ show venue
2:00pm: Finally some time to relax, meet up with other bloggers for a bite
4:00pm: Brand event. Woot! More prosecco!
7:00pm: Outfit change & dinner
9:30pm – late: Afterparty
AND REPEAT x 5 days = Pure exhaustion
But in all seriousness, Fashion Week is an amazing time for influencers from all around the world to connect and get to know each other. Influencers are also often the ones donning inspirational style trends and outfit ideas not to mention straight off the runway looks (I wish I was there!). They serve just a serious a purpose as buyers and press in viewing & setting next season’s must have looks & sell out pieces.
All in all, despite the chaos, LFW was pretty amazing & I’m looking forward to next season already!
