There are a few things every girl absolutely must have in her closet. I refer to these as your “statement staples” – items that theoretically go with any and everything and are timeless.
1) The leather jacket – this item is a big ticket purchase, but you have to bite the bullet, sooner better than later, and get one really solid piece. While I totally believe the pleather look can be rocked just as well, I opt for leather only for the sake of quality (and warmth!) My favorite ones from All Saints are soft and stretchy, making them uber comfortable while simultaneously chic. Two greatest benefits: they can be styled for any season and give an edgy attitude I just love!
2) The little black dress “LBD” – here I’m actually pairing a Vince sweater and Aritzia skirt together, but trust me when I say I have accumulated more than my fair share of LBDs. LBDs are important for so many reasons: they flatter every body type and can be worn day or night, styled up or down, at work, on a date, or to the club. If you really ask me, every girl actually needs multiple LBDs.
3) The statement necklace – the value of a statement necklace is often overlooked in a girl’s closet, but keep this in mind: a necklace can completely change an outfit not mention can be worn with an unlimited number of outfits. This stunning piece by Susanna Galanis has gorgeous natural stones and weaved gold chains (my faves!)
4) The black bootie – First of all, I love that short boots are called “booties”. These things are a life saver! They make a casual outfit look effortlessly elevated (not to mention literally elevating your height and lengthening those legs!) and are equally versatile, going great with dresses and jeans, at night or during the day.
